Privacy Policy

1. Privacy at a Glance

Linguoteka does not require an account. Your imported books, reading history, vocabulary and learning progress are processed and stored locally on your device. We do not upload the contents of books or text files that you import.

The App does connect to third-party services when it displays advertising, manages a subscription, downloads a Free Classic, retrieves a Quick Story or opens an external source link. Those services receive the technical information normally sent with an internet request, as described below.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

The following information is stored locally: imported books and extracted text, downloaded Free Classics and covers, prefetched or cached Quick Stories, reading progress, saved vocabulary, learned-word status, game progress, daily streaks, reading time, preferences and settings.

You can remove downloaded books and other content through the App. Uninstalling the App normally removes its local data, although copies may remain in a device backup managed by Apple, Google or your device provider according to your backup settings.

3. Free Classics and Quick Stories

The Free Classics catalog, EPUB files and cover images are delivered from Cloudflare-hosted storage controlled by us. When the App checks the catalog or downloads a file, Cloudflare may process your IP address, request URL, date and time, device or network information and security-related request data. We do not use these requests to build reading profiles or associate a downloaded title with your identity.

Quick Stories can be supplied from content packaged with the App or retrieved from providers such as Wikimedia/Wikisource, NASA and Global Voices. When a network source is contacted, that provider can receive your IP address, the App's user-agent string, requested URL and ordinary connection metadata. Story preferences, reading history and cached story content remain on your device.

4. Advertising and Consent

Google AdMob (Advertising)

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements in the free version of the App.

Depending on your platform, region, consent choices and device settings, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect or share an IP address (which can indicate a general location), advertising or app identifiers, device information, ad and app interactions, and diagnostic information. Google uses this information for advertising, measurement, service operation and fraud prevention.

Where required, the App presents a consent form before requesting ads. You can revisit available advertising privacy choices from the App's settings and can also manage tracking or advertising identifiers through your device settings. Declining personalized advertising does not necessarily remove advertising; it limits how ads are selected and which identifiers may be used.

5. Subscriptions and Purchases

RevenueCat (In-App Purchases)

We use RevenueCat to manage and validate Premium subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat may receive an automatically generated anonymous app-user identifier, product and purchase history, transaction or receipt information, subscription status, platform and app version, and technical network information required to provide and secure the service.

All financial transactions are securely processed by Apple (via the App Store) or Google (via Google Play). We and RevenueCat do not receive your full payment card number from the app stores. Apple or Google handles your payment method and billing account under its own terms and privacy policy.

6. Website Hosting and Fonts

The Website is published with GitHub Pages and delivered through Cloudflare. These providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, security events and related server logs needed to deliver and protect the Website. The Website also requests the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, so Google may receive ordinary request information when the font is loaded. The Website does not provide user accounts and we do not use our own advertising or analytics cookies on it.

7. Why We Process Information

We process the limited information described above to provide requested content, remember your local settings, validate Premium access, display and measure ads, protect the App and Website, prevent fraud, comply with law and respond to support requests. Depending on your location and the context, our legal basis is performance of a contract, your consent, compliance with a legal obligation or our legitimate interest in operating and securing Linguoteka.

8. Retention, Sharing and International Processing

Local App data remains until you delete it, clear the App's storage or uninstall the App, subject to device backups. We do not keep a server-side copy of your imported book text, vocabulary or reading history. Third-party providers retain purchase, advertising, security and request information according to their own policies and legal obligations.

We share information only with the service providers described in this Policy, when you direct us to do so, when required by law, or when necessary to protect users, our rights or the security of the service. These providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States, using safeguards described in their respective privacy policies.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You can delete locally stored books and learning data through the App or by uninstalling it. You can manage advertising consent in the App where the privacy options entry is available, manage tracking in device settings, and manage or cancel subscriptions through your app-store account.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection regarding personal data, and to withdraw consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Because Linguoteka does not require an account, we may not be able to identify information held only under an anonymous identifier without additional details from you.

10. Children's Privacy

Linguoteka is a general-audience language-learning app and is not designed specifically for children. We do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information directly to us. Parents and guardians should supervise a child's use of the App, imported material, external source links and app-store purchases. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the service, including encrypted HTTPS connections for network requests. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App, Website or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised version on this page and update the Effective Date. Where required, we will provide additional notice in the App or request fresh consent.
